The Sexual Assault Crisis and Support Center hosted its 18th annual Celebrity Dinner on Sept. 16 at the Augusta Civic Center. More than 300 community members attended and the event raised more than $60,000, an event record.

Local celebrity waiters provided a night of entertainment while raising more than $11,000 in “tips” (donations for the organizations).

The annual event is the center’s major fundraiser of the year and is a fun and meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of those in the community who need support. All proceeds from the event will assist the center in providing services to individuals impacted by sexual violence.

A fully staffed and highly trained Sexual Assault Support-line is available 24 hours a day, support groups, advocacy, school based prevention education, and the Children’s Advocacy Center are all provided free of charge to the communities of Kennebec and Somerset countnty.
