NORTH ANSON — Makayla Vicneire’s flair for the dramatic paid off for the Carrabec girls soccer team.

Vicneire scored twice, including the game-winner with 10 minutes to go, to lead the Cobras to a 3-2 victory over Mt. Abram in Mountain Valley Conference action Saturday afternoon.

Vicneire’s winner was scored off an assist from Skyler Chapman, and she also scored Carrabec’s first goal and assisted on its second, a score from Anastasia Quimby off a corner kick.

Jade Davis scored both goals for Mt. Abram (3-7-1).

Ashley Cates made three saves for the Cobras (3-3-2), while Kiley Holt made eight for the Roadrunners.

 

GIRLS SOCCER

 

ERSKINE 7, LINCOLN 0: Kayla Hubbard and Lauren Wood scored a pair of goals apiece to lead the Eagles (6-1-3) to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference victory in Newcastle.

Hubbard also had two assists, while Haymanot Maynard (assist), Morgan Presby and Annemarie Allen had the other goals.

Taylor Shute (seven saves) and Caitlin Labbe (one save) shared goalkeeping duties for Erskine, while Kortney McKenna made 13 saves for Lincoln (5-4-1).

 

BOYS SOCCER

 

MCI 4, WATERVILLE 1: Tevin Murkwende scored twice to lead the Huskies to the KVAC victory in Pittsfield.

Jedi Uribe and Devon Varney also scored. Duncan Boreham made seven saves for MCI.

Ben Danner scored for the Purple Panthers (2-7-1). Declan Green made 15 saves.

GARDINER 8, OCEANSIDE 0: Casey Bourque notched a hat trick to lead the Tigers (2-6-1) to the KVAC victory in Gardiner.

Bourque had an assist along with his three goals, while Jackson Tweedy (assist) and Cam Babcock scored twice apiece. Marshall Clements rounded out the scoring, and Garrett Lunt had two assists.

Alic Shorey made two saves in net for Gardiner. Caleb Powell stopped five shots in goal for the Mariners (0-9-1).

FIELD HOCKEY

 

MESSALONSKEE 11, LEWISTON 0: Kaitlyn Smith scored four goals to help the Eagles (10-0-0) to a KVAC victory in Lewiston.

Haley Lowell, Autumn Littlefield, Abby Brezynak, Megan Quirion, Chloe Tilley, Emily Crowell, Logan Alexander also had goals for Messalonskee, while Ally Turner had two assists and Julia Vigue had three saves.

C.C. Candry made 12 saves for the Blue Devils (1-9-0).

WINSLOW 1, BELFAST 0: Silver Clukey scored the only goal the Black Raiders (10-0) needed to score a KVAC victory in a matchup between two of Class B’s top teams.

Clukey scored with 25:09 to go in the game, knocking in a rebound in a scrum in front of the cage. Cassie Demers made seven saves for Winslow, while Brooke Richards stopped seven shots for Belfast (9-1).

MCI 7, BREWER 1: Addi Williams had a hat trick to lead the Huskies to the win in Brewer.

Madisyn Hartley, Jillian Frost, Victoria Friend and April McAlpine also scored for MCI (8-2-1). Elspeth Taylor and Ashley Souliere combined to make three saves.

Loli Eddy scored for Brewer (4-6-0). Jennah Geiser and Michaela Malcheodi combined to stop 18 shots.

ERSKINE 3, LINCOLN 0: Mya Maxim had two goals and an assist to lead Erskine to the KVAC B win.

Danielle Shorey also scored for Erskine.
