47 Daisies will host a community harvest supper from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at the Vassalboro Community School at 1116, Webber Pond Road, Vassalboro. Proceeds will support local food access for local low-income individuals, families and seniors. The menu will include butternut squash soup, mixed green salad, angel hair pasta with a garlic butter sauce, roasted vegetables, bread and butter and desserts.

Ticket costs $5 for adults, $8 for couples and $15 for families.

Tickets can be purchased online at 47daisies.com or at the following locations: The 47 Daisies Community Store, 552 Webber Pond Road, Vassalboro; and Lisa’s Legit Burritos in Gardiner and Augusta.

The nonprofit organization uses farming and food as tool for change in the community. 47 Daisies has several programs in place at its community store in Vassalboro and beyond. Low-income individuals and families (including, but not limited to, SNAP/EBT and WIC) can shop at the store and receive a 50 percent discount. The community store not only has a wide selection of its own vegetables, berries and mushrooms but an assortment of local vendor products as well, including milk, cheese, meat, spices, sauces, pasta and more.

The organization also offers free vegetable CSA shares to local families in need and do a weekly drop of reduced cost vegetable CSA shares to a senior living center in Augusta. In addition, it has a Kid’s Chef Club that allows children to use vouchers and shop for free and earn prizes for completion of the program. The organization also hosts cooking classes and events at the farm. Most of these programs are free to the general public and family friendly.
