An SUV rear-ended a Scarborough school bus carrying two children that was stopped with its lights flashing Wednesday afternoon, a Scarborough Police Department dispatcher said.

The school bus had activated its flashing red lights at a stop at the intersection of County Road and Crystal Lane when it was struck by a Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Scarborough police investigated, but did not charge the driver of the SUV, the dispatcher said. The two children on the bus were on their way home from school, but were not getting off when the accident occurred.

The two students were not injured, Assistant Superintendent of Schools Jo Anne Sizemore said in an email.

The crash occurred around 3:50 p.m. Traffic was temporarily reduced to one lane.
