WATERVILLE — Hospice Volunteers of Waterville Area will offer certified hospice volunteer training from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 14, 21 and 28, and from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays, Oct. 18 and 23; and Wednesdays, Oct. 18 and 25, at the Hospice Community Center, 304 Main St.
The course is for those interested in sharing two to four hours a week with individuals and family members who are facing a life threatening illness. Following training, support may include companionship, letter writing, life review, reading, compassionate listening, respite for the caregiver, or bereavement support for family members.
A pre-training interview is required. There is a non-refundable $30 fee for background and driver’s license checks, scholarships are available.
