AUGUSTA — Brig. Gen. Douglas A. Farnham presided over the promotion of Col. Eric W. Lind to the rank of brigadier general Dec. 1 and appointed him the assistant adjutant general for the Maine Air National Guard during a small ceremony at Le Club Calumet, according to a news release from ReadMedia news wire.

The assistant adjutant general of the Air National Guard is the primary advisor to the Adjutant General of all Air National Guard units in Maine and ensures the combat readiness and mission capability of an air refueling wing and two geographically separated units.

Lind is an Augusta native. His most recent military assignments include the human resources officer of the Maine National Guard and the director of staff of the Maine Air National Guard.

Lind is an avid volunteer, serving in numerous organizations in the Augusta community. He is a board member at the Kennebec Valley United Way and the Augusta Food Bank. Most recently, Lind was elected to serve on the Augusta City Council starting in January.

Lind was surrounded by friends, family and military colleagues both past and present.
