JACKMAN — Keegan Farnham scored a team-high 16 points and Joey Thomas chipped in with 14 as the Valley boys basketball team held off Forest Hills 65-61 in a Class D South game Tuesday night.

Josh Brown added 11 points for the Cavaliers (5-0), who rallied from a 41-34 halftime deficit.

Brandon Gilboe paced the Tigers (5-1) with 23 points.

LEAVITT 66, MT. BLUE 35: The Leavitt Hornets whipped around a basketball like infielders on a baseball diamond.

Throw in rebounding by several big men, strong legs from the entire team and it explains why the Hornets earned their first victory of the season.

The Cougars (0-3) were missing four starters due to injuries, sickness and other matters. Mt. Blue coach Charles Castonguay looked to a bunch of underclassmen to fill the voids.

“We just didn’t do the job on the boards we needed to do to stay with them,” Castonguay said. “They are aggressive. He plays a lot of kids — a lot of fresh legs.

“I think if we had done a little better job on the defensive boards, we could have played with them a little bit more.

“A lot of inexperience, and you know with those kids out, it makes it tough right now, but we are going to keep playing.”

RANGELEY 82, NORTH HAVEN 37: Kyle LaRochelle scored a game-high 26 points and Hunter Parsons added 15 as the Lakers rolled to the D South victory in Rangeley. Kenny Thompson scored 13 points for Rangeley (2-2) as well.

Tyrese Edwards scored 13 points to lead North Haven (3-4).

MESSALONSKEE 57, WATERVILLE 35: Chase Warren scored eight points to go along with five steals, five assists and nine rebounds to lead the Eagles to the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A victory in Oakland.

Tucker Charles led all Messalonskee scorers with 15 points, while Dawson Charles scored 12. Matt Parent added 10 points for the Eagles (1-3).

Nicholas Wildhaber led Waterville (0-4) with 10 points. Trafton Gilbert added nine points, while Ben Danner scored eight points.

MARANACOOK 59, WINSLOW 45: Skyler Boucher scored 13 points and Mitch root added 10 as the Black Bears prevailed in Winslow.

Bryan Riley added nine points for Maranacook (4-0).

Hunter Campbell scored 16 points for Winslow (1-2).

LISBON 47, MONMOUTH 45: Connor Davis scored 14 points, but it wasn’t enough for the Mustangs, who fell in Lisbon.

Brock Bates scored 11 points, while Dylan Lajoie added seven points for Monmouth (0-4).

Jonah Sautter led Lisbon (3-1) with 12 points. Sean Scott added 11 points.

OAK HILL 55, WISCASSET 40: Freshman Gavin Rawstron scored 18 points and collected six steals and four assists to lead the Raiders to their first MVC win of the season in Wales.

Darryn Bailey and Cohen Donnell finished with 12 points and 10 points, respectively, for Oak Hill (1-4).

Eleven of Wiscasset’s 13 fiels goals were 3-pointers. Ron Drake led Wiscasset (0-4) with 17 points.

RANGELEY 81, NORTH HAVEN 16: Emily Eastlack had a strong all-around game, finishing with 15 points, 13 steals, nine assists and seven rebounds as the Lakers ran away from North Haven in Rangeley.

Natasha Haley scored 14 points and Brooke Egan added 12 for Rangeley (4-0).

Mercedes Sparhawk scored nine points for North Haven (1-3).

VALLEY 51, FOREST HILLS 24: Lexi Davis scored 20 points to lead the Cavaliers (2-4) in Jackman.

Demi Giroux scored nine points to pace the Tigers (1-5).

GARDINER 53, ERSKINE 42: Jaycie Adams scored 12 points and Aimee Adams had 10 to lead the Tigers in the Augusta Civic Center.

Logan Granholm had nine points and seven rebounds for the tigers (3-1).

Alyssa Savage had nine points to pace Erskine (1-3).

SKOWHEGAN 47, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 38: Sydney Ames scored 16 points and had eight rebounds to lead the Indians to a KVAC A win in Skowhegan.

Alyssa Everett had eight points and eight rebounds, while Mariah Dunbar added 11 points for Skowhegan (4-0).

Bailey Donovan led Hampden (3-1) with eight points.

MESSALONSKEE 52, WATERVILLE 32: Ally Turner scored a game-high 17 points to lead the Eagles to the KVAC win in Waterville.

Gabrielle Wener added 13 points for Messalonskee (2-2).

Waterville (1-2) was led by Jayda Murray with nine points and Maddie Martin with eight.

MT. BLUE 51, LEAVITT 47: Lexi Mittelstadt scored 27 points and recorded seven steals and six assists to lead the Cougars to their first KVAC win of the season.

Rebecca Harmon added eight points and five rebounds for Mt. Blue (1-2).

Sophia Gilbert scored 16 points for Leavitt (2-2).

BOYS HOCKEY

CAPE ELIZABETH 9, MAR/WIN/MAD 1: Chris Laprade had two goals to pace the Capers at Kents Hill.

Ryan Collins, Alec Riggle, Ethan Gillespie, Matt Laughlin, Oskar Frankwicz, Gavin Simopoulos and Brady Eavenson also scored for the Capers (3-0-0).

Coleman Watson had an unassisted goal for the Hawks (0-3-0).
