Portland police say they are investigating the “suspicious death” of 36-year-old Sokha Khuon, whose body was found Sunday night inside her home on Dorothy Street after neighbors reported hearing gunshots.

Officers were called to the home at 46 Dorothy St. about 10:06 p.m. Sunday, the department said in a statement released at midafternoon Monday.

Property records list Khuon and her husband, Anthony Leng, as the owners of the modest tan-colored Cape in the city’s Riverton neighborhood.

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner is performing an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of Khuon’s death.

Police declined to answer questions about what they believe went on inside the home, including whether Leng was present at the time of the gunshots, whether Khuon was killed by the gunfire, or if investigators believe they know what led to her death.

“We are not commenting further,” Portland police Lt. Robert Martin said in response to questions emailed to him Monday.

Little else is known about what occurred in the home Sunday.

Evidence technicians, including one dressed in a protective white suit, continued to work outside the home Monday.

Neighbors said the couple had three children and lived in the home for several years. Property records show the couple bought the home in 2006.

Susan Brewer, 66, who lives a few houses away, said her husband and Anthony Leng bonded over their mutual love of fishing. Brewer said Leng was a sportsman and outdoors type, and took his son hunting and fishing.
