OAKLAND — Fur, Feathers & Feet: Introduction to Birds and Mammals will be the topic of a Chewonki Foundation presentation scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, in the children’s room at Oakland Public Library, 18 Church St.

Those who attend can discover the differences and similarities between birds and mammals as foundation members encourage active learning by dressing two students in its bear and bird costumes.

Participants also can handle and examine beak, foot and feather specimens to get a closer look at each animal’s special adaptations. The Chewonki’s Mallard duck and a live, non-releasable mammal, can bring these ideas to life.
