Waterville Junior High School held its annual geography bee Jan. 10-11 at the school. Twenty-four students who were the top scorers from their social studies classes participated.
Eighth- grade student Adam Sirois, was school champion. He is the son of Desiree Sirois and J. Coelho.
Seventh-grade student Michael Lugo was runner-up. He is the son of Tina and Daniel Lugo.
Advancing to the final round were Keya Amundsen, Peter Butera, Izzy Christensen, Finn Kelly, Owen Libby, Michael Lugo, Anderson Maines, Elias Nawfel and Adam Sirois.
Sirois has taken an online qualifying test here at the junior high and hopes to qualify for the state geography bee in April.
Members of the Bee Team included Lisa Evans, bee mistress; Janeice Holmes and Sarah St. Pierre, judges; and Cam Bishop, timer and scorekeeper.
