WATERVILLE — The comeback kids were at it on Wednesday night.

The Waterville girls basketball team, led by three players in double figures, erased a six-point fourth-quarter deficit en route to a 54-50 win over Maine Central Institute in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B game at Donovan Gym.

Jayda Murray scored 17 points to lead the Purple Panthers (8-5), while Maddie Martin and Sadie Garling added 14 and 11 points, respectively. Martin also collected nine rebounds, as Waterville outscored MCI 19-9 over the final eight minutes.

Claudia Fernandez led MCI (9-4) with 12 points in the loss. Dee Urena scored 11.

WINSLOW 56, FOXCROFT 20: Haley Ward scored 13 points to lead the Black Raiders to a win in Foxcroft.

Bodhi Littlefield added 11 points for Winslow (10-2).

Olivia Wesley scored eight points for Foxcroft (2-10).

MADISON 45, DIRIGO 31: Lauren Hay scored 14 points to lead the Bulldogs to a Mountain Valley Conferencewin over the Cougars in Dixfield.

Ashley Emery added eight points for Madison (11-2).

Alexa Perreault led Dirigo (2-12) with seven points.

CARRABEC 43, TELSTAR 27: Bailey Dunphy scored a team-high 11 points as the Cobras earned the MVC win in North Anson.

Mackenzie Baker added eight points for Carrabec.

Lucie Rothwell had a game-high 16 for Telstar.

UNIFIED BASKETBALL

WINSLOW 73, WATERVILLE 52: Kenny Hodges, one of three Black Raiders in double figures, finished with 15 points to lead Winslow to a season-opening win in Waterville.

Joey Kingsbury and Dakota Land eached added 12 points for Winslow (1-0). Cheyenne Raymond chipped in with eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

Nick Belanger led Waterville (0-1) with 22 points, and Jacob Hanson added 10.
