Two staff members of Delta Ambulance were presented with State of Maine flags and certificates, along with thank you letters, on Jan. 19 by Sen. Scott Cyrway (R-Kennbec), according to a news release from Krysta West, communications director at the Senate Republican Office.

Raymond Whitney and Alexandra Penney were recognized for their quick thinking actions in saving the life of Benton resident Steve Fotter, a close friend of Sen. Cyrway.

“While Raymond and Alexandra likely feel that they were just doing their jobs when they responded to this emergency call, to his family, friends and I, they are heros,” said Sen. Cyrway, according to the release. “As paramedics, they make a difference in many people’s lives day after day, always ready to help in times of fear and panic. I know I join so many others in expressing my gratitude and admiration for their service.”
