If I owned and ran a small business in Hallowell, I’d be very concerned about the impending construction on Water Street (“Reconstruction sounds sales alarms,” Jan. 8). Traffic congestion and lack of adequate parking on Water Street are already major concerns. I can’t even imagine how backed-up traffic will be in addition to a significant reduction in the number of parking spots during the reconstruction period.

I would suggest the construction be done 24 hours a day, seven days a week until it’s done. Get it done in the shortest amount of time to minimize the impact to Hallowell and its businesses.
