Despite 29 points from Anthony Bennett and Devin Williams’ fifth straight double-double (13 points, 12 rebounds) the Maine Red Claws lost Wednesday night’s game in California, 119-98, to the Santa Cruz Warriors.
Maine dipped below .500 at 16-17. Santa Cruz is 18-15.
Daniel Dixon added 21 points for Maine. Jabari Bird, who had missed eight games with a back injury, played seven minutes before leaving the game with an injury.
Maine led 58-56 at the half after shooting 53 percent from the floor including making 11 of 20 3-point attempts. The Red Claws cooled off in the second half and were outscored 29-16 in the fourth quarter.
Maine is at the Northern Arizona Suns on Friday.
