St. Brigid School in Portland will be closed Tuesday after the principal said a threat of violence was made against the school community.
Portland police Lt. Kevin Cashman confirmed Monday night that the police department was contacted by the parochial school “for assistance.”
“We can say there is no danger to the public,” Cashman added. He declined to elaborate further.
In a message sent Monday to the school community, Principal William Burke said he received “a report that a threat of violence has been made against St. Brigid School. The Portland Police Department is actively investigating this threat.”
St. Brigid is a privately run Catholic school for 3-year-olds through eighth-graders. It is located at 695 Stevens Ave.
