CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Police said a local man tried to run from police after he was accused of leaving the scene of an accident early Saturday.
Officer Ethan Boyd arrested Evan M. Olmstead, 28, of Carrabassett Valley, on a misdemeanor charge of leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident, police Chief Mark Lopez said Monday. He also was charged with refusing to submit to arrest — physical force.
A vehicle registered to Olmstead was found at Access and West Mountain roads early Saturday. While police were looking for Olmstead, he called 911 to alert them about the crash, Lopez said.
Boyd said he found Olmstead at his parents’ home off West Mountain Road, and when he asked Olmstead to take an alcohol test, he attempted to flee. Boyd then tackled him.
Olmstead was taken to the Franklin County Detention Center in Farmington. He was released on $500 cash bail later in the day.
