No students were injured when their school bus was involved in a crash Thursday morning in Buxton.

The driver of the car, 37-year-old Melissa Cilley of Waterboro, was charged with driving with suspended license and failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, police said. She was distracted at the time of the crash, according to police.

The crash happened around 8:30 a.m. on River Road near the intersection of Upper Egypt Road when a car rear-ended the school bus.

School officials said none of the roughly 34 students on Bus 121 were injured. They were taken to Buxton Center Elementary School where they were evaluated, officials said in a message posted on Facebook.

Police Chief Troy Cline said the drivers of the car and bus were not injured. The bus sustained minor damage.
