The Knox Lincoln County Beekeepers Bee School begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 27, at the American Legion Hall in Damariscotta. KLCB encourages all who are interested in keeping honeybees or those who want more information about honeybees and the challenges of beekeeping to attend.

This bee school is designed to give those who are interested in getting started keeping bees a basic understanding of bee biology, hive dynamics, beekeeping equipment and setting up an apiary, hive management including understanding and managing pests and diseases. All sessions are taught by experienced beekeepers and will also include a session with Maine State Apiarist Jennifer Lund.

Classes will be held on consecutive Tuesdays through April 10. One Saturday workshop in March is also planned (optional) to assemble hives and frames for spring use.

Course fee is $50 payable by check or cash at the first class and includes a textbook and a pro-rated annual membership to KLCB.
