Julia Clukey, born in Augusta, Maine, started competing in the sport of luge in 2002, after growing up as a child enjoying a variety of sports, including basketball and soccer. At the age of 12 she first tried the sport of luge, launching an interest that would lead her to multiple World Cup medals, national honors, and eventually to Olympic competition. After competing at the 2010 Winter Olympics, Julia came within 0.013 seconds of qualifying for the 2014 Games. She is currently in South Korea covering the Winter Olympics for NBC News.

Julia is a motivational speaker and has also established a girls summer camp in Maine, centered on boosting self-confidence and healthy mind and body decisions.

Travis Lazarczyk has covered sports for the Morning Sentinel and Kennebec Journal since 2000. A Vermont native, he graduated from the University of Maine in 1995 with a BA in English. After a few years working as a sports information director and in the ski industry, he began his journalism career at the Berlin (N.H.) Reporter in 1999. Over the years, Lazarczyk has been honored with numerous state, regional, and national awards for his work, including a first place for column writing from the Associated Press Sports Editors in 2011, and inclusion in Notable Sports Writing of 2009 in Best American Sports Writing.
