AUGUSTA — The program Bird in the Hand will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Viles Arboretum, 153 Hospital St. The event has been rescheduled because of the pending storm.
Using specimens from its collection, made possible with a permit from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Maine Master Naturalist Program will display feathers, skulls, skeletons, cough pellets and whole birds (road-killed but in good shape and stored in a freezer). This will be a curated, hands-on program rather than a lecture.
Bring a pen light and/or hand lens (or magnifying glass) to better view small nests and structures. Non-latex gloves and a bottle of hand-sanitizer will be provided.
