AUGUSTA — Lithgow Public Library will host Maine author Diane L. Dunton for a presentation, “The Creativity Connection: The relationship between writing, art and wellbeing” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 12, as part of the library’s March Wellness Series, according to a news release from her publicist.

Maine author, artist, photographer and Reiki Master trainer Dunton will discuss how anyone can use the arts and creativity for positive impact on health and wellness. Following the presentation, Dunton will be available to sign copies of her book of inspirational essays and photography, “Living, Learning, Healing” (Rainbow River Press).

Dunton is a Maine business and nonprofit consultant with Potential Released Consulting Inc., who has worked with some of Maine’s largest and best known companies over the past 25 years. But it was her recovery from cancer and loss (her husband succumbed to the disease as did her sister), that inspired her to write “Living, Learning, Healing: Inspirational Stories from the Heart.”

During her cancer recovery, Dunton took up painting and dove further into photography and writing. Since then, while she continues to run her consulting company, she has become a certified Reiki Master trainer.

Today, in full health, she paints, photographs, swims, participates in bike races, running events and is involved with the Dempsey Cancer Center. She now uses what she’s discovered about the connection between the creative process and wellness to show others who face health or wellness challenges of any kind how they, too, can find inspiration and harness the power of the creative process to heal.
