CHESTERVILLE — Liquor sales and Town Hall rental fees are among the articles on Monday evening’s Town Meeting warrant.
The meeting opens at 7 p.m. at the Town Hall at 409 Dutch Gap Road.
Voters will be asked four questions on allowing sales of liquor in town.
Robert Wheeler, owner of The Corner Store, petitioned to have them on the warrant.
They are:
• To permit an agency liquor store in town and to allow sales on Sundays.
• To permit an agency liquor store in town and to allow sales Monday through Saturday.
• To issue a license to consume liquor on premises on Sundays.
• To issue a license to consume liquor on premises Monday through Saturday.
Wheeler said previously that there would be no alcohol consumption at his store.
Voters will be asked to change the fee for renting the Town Hall from $75 to $25 for residents, plus a $25 refundable deposit. Nonresidents would pay $75, plus a $25 refundable deposit.
There would be no fee for memorials, funerals or benefits, or any town-affiliated group, committee or event, or for meetings or training beneficial to the town.
Regarding the budget, selectmen are recommending appropriating $901,737, while the Budget Committee recommends $884,937.
Other funding articles include:
• $163,282 recommended by selectmen for administration.
• $106,006 recommended by the Budget Committee for the transfer station.
• $274,800 recommended by the Budget Committee for public works, including $2,200 for maintenance of the excavator.
• $15,000 recommended by the Budget Committee for a new capital improvement reserve account; $25,000 recommended by selectmen.
• $1,000 for Chesterville Days and carry forward $1,781.15 from last year.
The Land Use Ordinance article calls for changes, including requiring notifications, not permits, for new buildings or additions of more than 200 square feet. It would not cover properties in the shoreland zone or in subdivisions.
If the ordinance revision is approved, copies of all notifications would go to the code enforcement officer, the assessor and the Town Office.
The annual town report is dedicated to George Barker, who was a selectman from 1972 to 1987. Counting his time on the Fire Department and with the road crew, he has devoted 25 years to the town.
