Five people were taken to a Pittsfield hospital Sunday afternoon following a two-car crash on Route 220 at Depot Street in Unity.

Trooper Donald Webber of State Police Troop D barracks in Augusta said the five people suffered only minor injuries in the accident that was first reported at about 2 p.m. He said Trent Bennett, of Dexter, was driving a Chevy SUV with his wife and two young daughters northbound on Route 220 when another vehicle pulled out in front of them and was struck by Bennett’s vehicle.

The Bennetts were taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield to be treated for minor injuries. Makayla Foster, of New Hampshire, the driver of the second vehicle, an Audi station wagon, also was taken to the hospital.

Webber said Foster’s vehicle was at the stop sign on Depot Street at the intersection with Route 220 when she pulled out in front of the Bennett’s SUV.
