BIDDEFORD — Mitch Mullin had four goals and an assist Monday to lead the University of New England to a 15-3 victory against the University of Southern Maine in a nonconference men’s lacrosse game.

Tyler Nevers’ goal with three seconds left in the opening quarter broke a 2-2 tie and began a 13-goal run by UNE.

Alec Beveridge, Zach Bossi, Alex Zadworny and Garett Bozek each had two goals for UNE (3-1). Adam Race and Sean McCarthy also scored.

Nate DelGiudice and Seth Wing had a goal and an assist apiece for the Huskies (1-1). Paul Leonardo also scored.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 16, CASTLETON 7: Keara Dwyer had five goals and two assists, leading the University of New England (2-1) over the Spartans (1-3) at Castleton, Vermont.

Mackenzie Collins popped in a pair of goals as the Nor’easters used a 6-0 run to pull away from a 1-1 tie. UNE built the lead to 9-3 by halftime, then began the second half with a 7-0 run.

BASEBALL

WEBSTER 8, SOUTHERN MAINE 5: Kyler Kent had four hits, including a pair of doubles, two RBI and a run, leading the Gorloks (6-2) past Southern Maine (1-2) at Auburndale, Florida.

Kent’s double started a four-run first inning for Webster. The Huskies struck back for three in the top of the second: Devin Warren scored on a wild pitch before Anthony Degifico singled home Jake Dexter and Kyle Heath came home on Andrew Olszak’s base hit.

SOFTBALL

ST. MARY’S 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 3: Madelynne Keller scored on Morgan Raymer’s sacrifice fly in the eighth inning to lift the Belles (7-0) over the Huskies (0-1) at Leesburg, Florida.

USM led 2-1 in the second when Taylor Lux singled home Alexis Brown and Courtney Davis. The Huskies upped the lead to 3-1 in the fourth with Tabitha Hirsch scoring on Erin Martin’s base hit.

SOUTHERN MAINE 2, LAKELAND 0: Amber Kelly doubled home Brittany Plowman, then scored when Erin Martin was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded as the Huskies (1-1) scored twice in the third inning against the Muskies (3-3) at Leesburg, Florida.

Alexis Brown pitched a four-hit shutout.

SUNY-GENESEO 11, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 2: Claire VanNewkirk and Brooke Wolff hit two-run doubles as SUNY-Geneseo (4-0) added five runs in the fourth inning and beat the Nor’easters (0-2) in five innings at Clermont, Florida.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 4, UMASS-DARTMOUTH 3: Kaitlin Carson scored the winning run on Andrea Gosper’s bunt single in the eighth, lifting UNE (1-3) over the Corsairs (4-1) at Clermont, Florida.
