CLERMONT, Fla. — Alexis Kapsambelis drove in Andrea Gosper on a fielder’s choice in the top of the eighth inning, Sydnee Bessler finished off her complete game in the bottom half and the University of New England softball team beat Keene State on Tuesday, 3-2.

Kapsambelis also hit an RBI double for the Nor’easters (2-4). Beesler struck out eight and walked none.

BECKER 6, U. OF NEW ENGLAND 4: Megan Klemanchuck hit a two-run double during a three-run fourth inning that gave the Hawks (2-3) the lead for good against the Nor’easters (1-4) at Clermont, Florida.

Avery Alberghini had two hits and scored three runs, while Sydnee Bessler struck out nine for UNE.

STEVENSON 3, SOUTHERN MAINE 0: Tiffany McKee hit a three-run double in the third inning and Morghan Fulton tossed a four-hitter with five strikeouts for the Mustangs (3-5) against the Huskies (1-2) in Clermont, Florida.

Rebecca Atkinson pitched a four-hitter for the Huskies. Despite the rough third inning, Atkinson struck out four and walked one, while retiring the side in order in the first, second, fourth and sixth innings.

Brooke Cross had two hits for the Huskies.

OLIVET 4, SOUTHERN MAINE 3: Kinslea Blouin had four hits, including a two-run homer in the fifth inning, and the Comets (7-3) held off a late rally by the Huskies (1-3) at Minneola, Florida.

Taylor Lux singled home Haeli Campbell in the seventh to make it 4-3, and the Huskies had runners on first and second when the game ended.

BASEBALL

SOUTHERN MAINE 5, WASHINGTON (MO.) 1: The Huskies (2-2) scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning for the win over the Bears (6-5) at Auburndale, Florida.

Tanner Laberge hit a two-run single, and the Huskies got two more runs on a bases-loaded walk and a sacrifice fly.

Jake Dexter had three hits and earned his first win by holding the Bears to just one hit over the final 2 1/3 innings.

Anthony Degifico and Kip Richard each had two hits USM.
