Whitney Bess, of Madison, a Madison Area Memorial High School senior, has been selected to receive the 2018 Principal’s Award, according to a news release from Principal Jessical Ward.

The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement, citizenship and leadership.

Bess is a dedicated student, a student body leader, and an involved citizen at Madison Area Memorial High School. She challenges herself academically with AP and dual enrollment classes, as well as being the Senior class secretary/treasurer, a member of the Business League, National Honor Society and a Senior mentor to Freshman students, according to the release.

Bess plans to attend Husson University in the fall to study forensic science.

Bess plans to attend the Maine Principals Association Honors luncheon with Principal Jessica Ward held Saturday, April 7, at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor.

At this event, Bess will be presented with an individual plaque and will be entered to win a $1,000 scholarship from the MPA.

She is the daughter of Jennifer and Jeff Bess of Madison.
