BANGOR — Law enforcement officials say they have launched a homicide investigation into the deaths of two people who were found in a burning delivery truck in Bangor.
Bangor police say the bodies of Michael Bridges, 43, and Desiree York, 36, were found in the box truck after the fire was doused late Wednesday.
Both were residents of Bangor.
Fire Chief Tom Higgins said firefighters quickly knocked down the blaze, and discovered the bodies after sawing open the side of the truck.
Business owners told WLBZ-TV that the area is a popular gathering place for the city’s homeless population. One saw a group in the area Thursday night.
Investigators and crime scene technicians from the Bangor Police Department are assisting the Maine Fire Marshal’s Office in the investigation.
