FARMINGTON — Zetron Inc. has agreed to give Franklin County an additional two-year extended warranty on the dispatch console system the county has bought from the Washington company.

Stan Wheeler, director of Franklin County Regional Communications Center, updated county commissioners March 20 on the company’s agreement. Commissioners approved and signed a letter written by Wheeler to Zetron on Feb. 20 that requested an extended warranty.

Members of the county’s Dispatch Advisory Board brought their concerns about the emergency radio communications system, including audio problems and dropped calls, to commissioners Feb. 1.

Commissioners agreed in December 2016 to buy a Zetron Max Dispatch console system for $166,516. It was installed in March 2017.

Zetron sent two executives to meet Feb. 6 with commissioners, Wheeler and advisory board members to discuss concerns and what could be done to resolve them.

Scott French, vice president and general manager of Zetron’s Americas division, apologized for taking so long to listen to concerns about the system raised by Wheeler and county communications consultant Rick Davol.

French also said they would work with the county until all problems are solved and confidence has been restored. The company agreed it would not start the county’s warranty on the console until that happens.

A software upgrade was installed with a Zetron technician on hand, which went well, Wheeler told commissioners. Audio and associated problems were solved and they had not experienced any others since then that were out of the ordinary, he said last week.

Another software upgrade is expected to be released in the summer or fall, he said.
