AUGUSTA – Gov. Paul LePage announced Monday he has hired John H. Doyle to serve as deputy counsel and senior policy advisor for public safety.

Doyle, a resident of West Baldwin, is an attorney who is admitted to practice law in Maine, Virginia and Washington, D.C., according to a statement from the Republican governor’s office. Doyle began working for LePage this month.

“His legal experience in other states will bring an important perspective to our team,” LePage said in a prepared statement.

Prior to joining the administration, Doyle’s legal experience included time working in the Office of the Attorney General of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the corporate and securities group of a large law firm in Washington, D.C., and as an in-house corporate counsel, the release stated.

Doyle is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University of Virginia School of Law.
