Stephen Ouellette, the athletic director at Gardiner Area High, and Sun Journal sports reporter Randy Whitehouse were among many who received recognition at the April 5 Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association’s annual spring conference.

Martin Ryan Award of Excellence: Gary Stevens, Thornton Academy.

Gerald Durgin Leadership Award: Craig Sickels, Freeport.

NIAAA State Award of Merit: Don King, CAA, Poland Regional.

Nominated for the NIAAA Distinguished Service Award: Alfred “Bunky” Dow, Mt. Desert Isle.

Nominated for the NIAAA Frank Kovaleski Professional Development Award: Gary Stevens, Thornton.

Past President MIAAA Distinguished Service Award: Mark White, Presque Isle.

Larry LaBrie, MIAAA Distinguished Service Award State-wide: Dr. John Ryan, South Portland.

MIAAA Electronic Media Award: Fred Grant, WHOU, Houlton.

MIAAA Print Media Award: Whitehouse, The Sun Journal, Lewiston.

Scholar Athlete $500 scholarship from the MIAAA: Lindsay Bland, Ellsworth.

Scholar Essayist $500 Scholarship from the MIAAA: Hallie Schwartzman, Kennebunk.

Robert Boucher, 7th Player, Distinguished Service Award: Rick Sinclair, Hermon.
