SOMERVILLE — Guardian Animals on Farms – Speaking the Language Carnivores Understand will be topic of a talk set for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Pumpkin Vine Farm Education Center, 217 Hewett Road.

An effective, low-impact way to keep your livestock safe from predators will be part of a presentation by wildlife biologist Geri Vistein.

Guardian animals, dogs, donkeys and llamas, are of great assistance to farmers who wish to coexist with carnivores. These special guardians speak the language carnivores understand: about territory and about staying safe. But for these guardians to be successful, farmers need to learn all the important facets regarding them. Several local farmers, who use guardian animals ,will talk about their successes and challenges.

This presentation is free and open to the public.
