A car fire on Interstate 295 in Freeport delayed traffic Wednesday afternoon, but no injuries were reported, according to police.

A dispatcher for the Maine State Police said the fire happened about 3:27 p.m. in the northbound lane near mile marker 22, near the exit that connects the highway with Mallett Drive in Freeport.

Authorities were able to remove the damaged car and cleared the highway by 4:30 p.m.
