I am writing in support of Waterville Mayor Nick Isgro. The fact that he wrote on his own Twitter account words that offend Karen Heck and others is unfortunate. It is despicable that is cost him his job. If you have a political difference with him (and that is what this is — politics), challenge him in that arena.

What happened in Florida is a tragedy. But we, the public, have now elevated these kids to sainthood, where anyone who speaks against them is crucified. Through no fault of their own they have been thrust into the public eye. However, should they choose to now try and change things through doing very public interviews, they will come up against criticism. They and the public are going to have to expect it.

Mayor Isgro has worked tirelessly for the people of Waterville. Business has benefited because of his work. Residents have benefited because of his work. He won his last election fairly, yet certain elements in Waterville refuse to accept that outcome. Instead they choose to ruin a man’s livelihood.

I for one would rather have someone represent me who tweeted a few questionable words than people who think it is to their benefit to attack someone’s employment and ruin political enemies. They are morally corrupt, despicable, evil people. It is my hope that this recall fails, but if they succeed, it is the city of Waterville who will be the loser.
