MADISON — The American Legion Auxiliary recently filled 22 backpacks for children entering the Department of Health and Human Services system. Most children who enter the system have nothing more than the clothes on their backs. The auxiliary likes to provide them with a backpack filled with items they can call their own in hopes that it makes the transition a little easier, according to a news release from the auxiliary.
