ORONO — The University of Maine softball team won both games of a doubleheader against Sacred Heart in its final at-bat, winning 2-0 and 1-0 on Saturday.

The Black Bears (18-18) won the first game on a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning by Alyssa Derrick. Annie Kennedy pitched a complete game, allowing three hits while striking out eight and walking one.

In the second game, Shanna Scribner scored on an error in the bottom of the eighth to give Maine a 1-0 win.

Kyleigh O’Donnell earned the win, allowing two hits, while striking out eight and walking two.

Sacred Heart falls to 24-17.

BOWDOIN SWEEPS BATES: The Polar Bears (23-8, 8-3 NESCAC) scored eight runs in the third inning and six in the sixth en route to a 14-5 win in six innings over the Bobcats (16-11, 2-6) in the second game of a doubleheader at Lafayette Street Field in Lewiston.

Natalie Edwards hit a two-run homer in the third inning for Bowdoin, while Allison Rutz went 4 for 4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Julia Panepinto drove in four runs and hit a two-run homer in the fifth for Bates.

Lauren O’Shea and Ruby Siltanen each hit home runs in the first game, leading Bowdoin to a 8-0 win in five innings.

TRINITY SWEEPS COLBY: Courtney Erickson hit a two-run triple as part of a five-run sixth inning as the Bantams (17-11, 2-9 NESCAC) beat the Mules (2-22, 6-3) 12-5 in the second game of a doubleheader in Hartford, Connecticut.

Hailey Rohall had three hits for Colby, while Julia Saul hit an RBI double in the top of the fourth.

Saul hit a bases-clearing double in the first game but Trinity pulled out a 4-3 win.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND SPLITS WITH GORDON: Sydnee Bessler pitched a no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking one as the Nor’easters (17-15, 10-6 CCC) earned a doubleheader split with the Fighting Scots (10-21, 6-12), winning the second game 3-0 in Biddeford.

Kristen Brown had four hits and drove in three runs as Gordon won the second game, 6-5.

SOUTHERN MAINE SPLITS WITH WESTERN CONN.: Courtney Davis drove in three runs and Alexis Brown struck out seven to lead Southern Maine (17-16, 6-4 LEC) to an 8-0 win in the second game as it split a doubleheader with the Colonials (10-21-1, 3-5) in Gorham.

Kayla Nowak hit the go-ahead solo homer in the top of the eighth of the first game to give Western Connecticut a 5-4 win.

Erin Martin recorded three hits and scored four runs for Southern Maine in the second game.

ST. JOSEPH’S SPLITS WITH RIVIER: Libby Pomerleau, Maize Lee and Meghan Elliott each drove in three runs to lead the Monks (12-14, 8-6) to a 16-0 win in the first game as they split a doubleheader with the Raiders (10-22, 5-13) in Nashua, New Hampshire.

The Monks managed just two hits in the second game and lost, 9-3.

LACROSSE

AMHERST 7, BATES 3: Katherine Malone and Hannah Gustafson each scored twice and the Mammoths (13-1, 8-1 NESCAC) jumped out to a 6-1 lead at halftime to beat the Bobcats (7-7, 2-7) in Lewiston.

Allison Dewey, Teal Otley and Avery MacMullen each scored for Bates.

BOWDOIN 10, AMHERST 9: Katie Miller broke a 9-9 tie with 1:57 left and the Polar Bears (11-3, 6-3 NESCAC) rallied from a three-goal deficit in the second half to beat the Mammoths (6-8, 2-7) at Farley-Lamb Field in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

Williams took an 8-5 lead midway through the second, but Paige Brown scored, and Eliza Denious scored twice in a 30- second span to tie the game with 10:01 left.

SOUTHERN MAINE 14, RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE 6: Ruth Nadeau, Megan Violette and Allison Irish each scored three goals as the Huskies (9-5, 2-2 LEC) cruised to a win over the Anchorwomen (1-9, 0-4) in Gorham.

Colleen Fleming and Alex Farley each added two goals for Southern Maine.

ST. JOSEPH’S 17, RIVIER 4: The Monks (11-3, 7-2 GNAC) scored 16 straight goals, including five by Kayla Kelly, on their way to a win over the Raiders (3-9, 3-7) in Nashua, New Hampshire.

Elyse Caiazzo had three goals and an assist for the Monks, while Brittney Arsenault, Emily Ryan and Kara Kelly each added two goals.

UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 19, NICHOLS 9: Anna Stowell, Keara Dwyer and Molly Camelo each scored four goals as the Nor’easters (6-8, 3-4 CCC) beat the Bison (4-10, 0-7) at Big Blue Turf stadium in Biddeford.

Jolena Lampron added three goals for UNE, which led 11-6 at halftime.

TRINITY 11, COLBY 9: Kiley Coffey scored six goals for the Bantams (10-4, 6-3 NESCAC), who overcame a second-half rally by the Mules (8-6, 3-6) in Hartford, Connecticut.

Sasha Fritts tallied four goals for Colby, which turned an 8-4 deficit early in the second half into a 9-8 lead.
