GORHAM — Devin Warren hit a two-run single that capped a four-run fourth inning Sunday that helped the University of Southern Maine score an 8-6 victory against Salve Regina in a nonconference baseball game at Flaherty Field.

Southern Maine (20-8) had overcome an early 2-0 deficit with a three-run second highlighted by Kyle Heath’s two-run single against Salve Regina (16-11).

Jake Dexter and Anthony Degifico scored twice for USM.

UMASS-LOWELL 9, MAINE 8: Ben Prada drove home four runs and Russ Olive three for the River Hawks (17-19, 8-7 America East), who opened a 9-3 lead over the first four innings and held off Maine (11-25, 6-6) at Lowell, Massachusetts.

The Black Bears scored in the fifth and twice in the sixth to trail 9-6. In the seventh, they loaded the bases with no outs. A fielder’s choice brought in one run and Kevin Doody’s single made it 9-8, but a strikeout and groundout ended the threat.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS JOHNSON & WALES: Greg Emanuelson doubled home Hunter Richardson in the eighth inning to give the Monks (23-8, 7-1 Great Northeast Athletic) a 3-2 victory over Johnson & Wales (20-14, 7-5) at Standish. St. Joseph’s won the first game, 9-1.

In the opener, Chris Gerossie’s two-run double broke a 1-1 tie in the second. The Monks put the game out of reach with five runs in the sixth.

MIDDLEBURY SWEEPS BOWDOIN: Brooks Carroll laced a game-ending two-run double to left-center as the Panthers (10-13) scored three times in the seventh inning to overcome Bowdoin (11-16) for a 5-4 win in Middlebury, Vermont.

The Panthers followed with a 3-0 victory in the second game on Jake Dianno’s home run and a two-run double from Sam Graf.

SOUTHERN MAINE CC, COMMUNITY COLLEGE OF RHODE ISLAND SPLIT: Sean Adams and Timothy Greenlaw stroked RBI singles to break a 6-6 tie in the sixth and the SeaWolves (23-12) held off CCRI (17-15) to win 8-7 at South Portland.

The Knights won the second game, 10-8.

SOUTHERN MAINE SWEEPS COLBY: Courtney Davis, Brooke Cross and Erin Martin each drove in four runs over two games to lead the Huskies (19-16) to a sweep of Colby (2-24), 9-1 in five innings and 13-9 at Gorham.

Hannah Kenney doubled home two runs in the fifth inning of the first game, and Martin tripled home two more as the Huskies scored five times to end it.

In the second game, USM trailed 9-6, then scored five runs in the fifth on RBI singles from Cross, Taylor Lux and Kayleigh Bohan to take an 11-9 lead.

ST. JOSEPH’S SWEEPS REGIS: Libby Pomerleau had four hits, including a pair of home runs, drove home four runs and scored three times, leading the Monks (14-14, 10-6 Great Northeast Athletic) to 8-0 and 13-2 five-inning victories over Regis (7-17, 3-13)at Standish.

In the opener, Pomerleau led off St. Joseph’s first inning with a homer. Kristal Smith, Madeline Wood and Casidee Couture added RBI singles. Kate Chadbourn singled home a run in the third before the Monks ended it in the fifth.

In the second game, the Monks, trailing 2-0, took the lead with a three-run third highlighted by Kaylee Burns’ home run. They added 10 in the fourth.

MEN’S LACROSSE

ENDICOTT 10, UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND 3: The Gulls (5-10, 5-2 Commonwealth Coast) opened a 7-0 halftime lead and beat UNE (8-8, 3-4) at Beverly, Massachusetts.
