Believe it or not, summer is coming. That means a return of the farmer’s market in Castonguay Square in Waterville, because no one goes to Head of Falls where it belongs, the closing of Common Street every Thursday hindering commerce and shutting off automobile traffic to the shops there, plus the loss of parking spaces on Main Street taken up by farmer’s market patrons.

If the Music In The Park goes through, that means the closing down of Common Street every Friday because no one goes to Head of Falls where it belongs, shutting off automobile traffic to the shops there, hindering commerce and the loss of parking spaces on Main Street taken up by concert-goers.

So Common Street will be shut down every Thursday and Friday, not to mention various other things, like “The Taste” or if Colby needs another downtown fundraiser with Klieg lights.

Now we’re spending thousands of dollars to move the Concourse “sculpture” to free up the Concourse roadway and to Head of Falls, where it belongs and where it will be out of the way because no one goes to Head of Falls.

Then we’re going to spend a million and a half dollars on a Riverwalk at Head of Falls, even though no one goes there.

As Fred Rogers used to say: “It’s a lovely day in the neighborhood…”
