Nick Isgro, the mayor of Waterville, recently tweeted insults regarding the students of Parkland High School in Florida, students who recently suffered the loss of teachers and classmates in one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history.
I do not live in Waterville, but as a U.S. citizen and Maine resident, I am shocked at his name-calling and ashamed that such comments came from an official in my state. Such hateful language has no place in public discourse. I support the current effort to recall Isgro and hope that the residents of Waterville will find a much better mayor to replace him.
