HALLOWELL — The Girl Scouts from the Cobbossee Service Unit delivered more than 50 cases of donated cookies to the local Meals on Wheels program on April 20.

Several Girl Scouts from the Cobbossee Service unit, which serves central Maine, gathered at Spectrum Generations, Cohen Center in Hallowell. Those in attendance participated in selling “Cookie Share Packages,” Cookie Shares are boxes of cookies purchased by a customer from a Girl Scout to be donated.

The donated packages of cookie packages will be sorted and delivered to participants of the Meals on Wheels program.

During the cookie sale, 56 out of the 181 Girl Scouts in Cobbossee Service Unit contributed to selling 648 packages of “Cookie Shares”. Once the cookies were delivered, those who helped with the delivery were invited to serve cookies and mingle with clients who are served onsite by the food program offered at the Cohen Center.

This was the first time the Girl Scouts were given a first-hand experience pf how their efforts of selling donated boxes of cookies impact others in the community.

Girl Scouts of Maine works with the Meals on Wheels program across the state and donates 1,000’s of Cookie Share packages each year.
