FARMINGTON — Sydney Ames and the Skowhegan softball team both remained unbeaten Tuesday, as the Indians grabbed a 6-1 win over Mt. Blue in a Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class A game.
Ames allowed just four hits in limiting the Cougars to one run, striking out eight. She also had a double at the plate as Skowhegan improved to 4-0 and she improved to 2-0 in the circle.
Aislynn Provencher, Adelle Foss, Gracie Foss and Ashley Wiles all had singles for Mt. Blue (3-2).
GARDINER 4, ERSKINE 1: The Tigers scored four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead and eventually the KVAC B victory in Gardiner.
Maddie Farnham had two hits and drove in a run for Gardiner (3-1), while Sidney Bartunek and Haley Brann each had a hit and an RBI.
Summer Hotham had a pair of hits for Erskine (0-4).
WINSLOW 12, MOUNT VIEW 5: Haley Ward had two hits, including a double, and three RBI to lift the Black Raiders (5-1) to the KVAC B win in Thorndike.
Paige Trask had two singles and two runs for Winslow, while Sarah Guimond had two hits, a run and an RBI and Broghan Gagnon struck out seven in seven innings in the circle while allowing two earned runs.
Devon Burgess had a double and a run for Mount View (0-6), while Emma Fonger added a single and two runs for the Mustangs.
TEMPLE 6, VALLEY 5, 8 INN.: After scoring three runs in the top of the seventh, only to see the Cavaliers extend the game with three of its own in the bottom half, the Bereans got a run in the eighth to earn an extra-inning win in an East/West Conference matchup in Bingham.
Deleyni Carr got the win for Temple (3-1), striking out 14 while pitching all eight innings, and she also had a double and a triple in the victory.
Jada Ward had two doubles for Valley (1-1), while Kennedy Savoy hit a triple.
BASEBALL
TEMPLE 13, VALLEY 1, 5 INN.: Sawyer Deroche scattered six hits around 12 strikeouts to hurl the Berans to the Class D win in Bingham.
Micah Riportella had three hits, including a pair of doubles, for Temple (1-3), which scored seven runs in the first inning.
Joey Thomas had a pair of hits for Valley (0-2).
GARDINER 14, ERSKINE 6: The Tigers scored 11 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to pull away and take the KVAC B win in Gardiner.
Logan Porter, Kolton Brochu, Garrett Lunt and Cam Bourassa each had two hits for Gardiner (2-2).
Caden Turcotte had three hits for Erskine (2-2).
BOYS LACROSSE
BANGOR 9, WINSLOW 6: Nason Vassiliev scored five goals to lead a second-half surge from the Rams in a KVAC game in Bangor.
Bangor (2-2) outscored the Black Raiders 5-2 after halftime for the comeback win.
Bryce Hillier had four goals and an assist for Winslow (2-1).
