The Maine Art Gallery Wiscasset host an exhibit of promising artists from seven local schools May 5-20 at the old Wiscasset Academy building at 15 Warren St. The gallery will be open noon to 4 p.m. weekends through the fall. An opening reception is set for 2-4 p.m. Saturday, May 5.

Participating schools include: Great Salt Bay School, Juniper Hill School, Medomak Valley High School, Sheepscot Valley Children’s House, Wiscasset Christian Academy, Wiscasset Elementary School and Wiscasset Middle High School.

Illustrator and children’s book author Marcia Sewall will present a special talk on the process of creating a children’s picture book at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 12.

The gallery is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement and preservation of painting, sculpture and graphic arts through exhibitions, lectures, demonstrations and educational programs for children and adults.
