I am delighted to write in strong support of Chloe Maxmin, a Democratic candidate for House District 88, which includes my town of Whitefield, as well as Chelsea, Jefferson and part of Nobleboro. Please join me in voting for her in the primary election on June 12.

It is so encouraging to have such an enthusiastic, optimistic, and intelligent young woman running for state office. Already, Chloe has demonstrated an extraordinary ability for organizing and energizing others to work together on important issues. For example, as a teenager at Lincoln Academy, she founded the Climate Action Club and organized her fellow students for community service to benefit the environment. One of their biggest successes was to secure grant funding for the first solar panel installation at the school.

At Harvard University, on a bigger stage, she founded Divest Harvard and attracted national recognition for her organization’s efforts to get the university to divest from the fossil fuel industry. Clearly, she is an effective problem solver.

Chloe could have pursued a career on the national or international level, but most of all she wanted to come home to Maine and work on the many issues we face here — those of social justice, the environment, health care, and an aging population.

I have driven Chloe around to knock on doors and talk with her potential constituents. With each new person she meets, her enthusiasm grows. I see how well she is listening. I hear how deeply she cares. And I have witnessed her boundless energy and patience.

Get out and vote for Chloe Maxmin for District 88 in the Democratic primary on June 12.
