Maine forest rangers had another busy day Sunday trying to contain wildfires that broke out across the state.
Forest rangers used Twitter to make the public aware of the fire danger as well as the towns that were affected.
Rangers tweeted that they responded to wildfires in Passadumkeag, Howland, Albany Township, Dover-Foxcroft, Winthrop, Greene and Buckfield.
Among the causes listed were: children playing with matches, unextinguished campfires, faulty vehicle exhaust, and debris burning with no permit.
All of the fires were contained and the amount of acreage that burned was minimal, but the fire in Buckfield – caused by illegal debris burning – did threaten structures.
According to the Maine Forest Service, the wildfire danger on Sunday was high for Piscataquis County and most of Aroostook County. The fire danger for central Maine was moderate.
