The South End Neighborhood Association will host its annual bike swap from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 19, at the Green Street Park from the newly built shed by students at the Mid-Maine Technical Center.
Last weekend, a group of SENA volunteers completed the repairs and building of bikes to have ready for when youngsters come from the community to acquire a new or gently used bike.
Students from the Teen Center have worked diligently for a couple of months putting the new bikes together as well as helping with the repairs of gently used bikes.
Also, a Tool Shed Library, will be built by local folks on Saturday, May 26. The idea is to help those who cannot afford everyday tools, garden, lawn mowers, weedwackers, leafblowers, rakes, shovels, etc. The community members will have a place to borrow the tools to take care of their lawns and surrounding areas thus keeping the neighborhood looking good.
This project was made possible by the folks at Colby through the civic engagement initiative and under the umbrella of “Keeping the Ball Rolling” committee.
