SMITHFIELD — A free watercraft safety course from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at the Fairview Grange #342, 826 Village Road.
Participants can learn how to properly operate and maintain a boat, laws, responsibilities, first aid, personal safety and more.
For certications, participants must pass a final exam given at the end of the class.
The class will accommodate the first 50 people to sign up. A free lunch will be provided.
The class provides the opportunity for 16-18 year olds to become certified to operate a personal water craft. The one-day event is sponsored by the Grange, North Pond Association and Maine Department of Inland Fish and Wildlife.
