The WorshipFM radio station in Augusta will celebrate 20 years of being on-air with an on-air fundraiser from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24. Proceeds from the event will be used to replace aging equipment.

WorshipFM’s flagship 95.3 signal went on the air in the spring of 1998, operating at 5800 Watts from Cook Hill in Vassalboro. In 2004, the 95.3 signal was upgraded, doubling its height by moving to a new tower in Skowhegan. That same year the station also started streaming on the Internet.

In 2005, the power for 95.3 was increased to 12,000 Watts. In January 2013, a new signal was constructed, 88.1 Bowdoin, which operates at 50,000 Watts. WorshipFM currently is broadcasting on 95.3 FM — serving central Maine, on 88.1 FM in Bowdoin, and online at WorshipRadioNetwork.org.

WorshipFM is a non-profit, non-commercial, listener-supported radio station.
