When did Waterville turn into Recall-ville? Are we as a community so focused on ousting those that we disagree with that we forget about the important things happening in our city? The recall efforts of Nick Isgro and John O’Donnell are definitely not necessary, but the recall effort for Jackie Dupont is inarguably ludicrous.

Jackie Dupont does nothing but work extremely hard for this city, especially those in Ward 7. She is head of the South End Neighborhood Association, which organizes and implements countless events throughout the year for the South End residents. One example is the annual Bike Swap this Saturday. This past weekend, dozens of people showed up to fix up bikes for the swap. This coming weekend even more will come out to get their new bikes. This was all organized by Jackie, the South End Teen Center, and SENA.

I won’t get into details about the South End Festival, the Halloween event, Winterfest, South End clean up, etc. This would be way too long of a letter if I did.

I will, however, say that as a resident of Ward 7, there is no one else that I would want to represent me and my family on the City Council. You will be hard pressed to find someone who cares about the people in this city more than Jackie does, and if you live in Ward 7 I would highly discourage you from signing the petition to get her recalled.

Reach out to your councilor and ask how you can help your ward. It is not their job to make everyone happy; that’s impossible. It is their job to do the best that they can to make our awesome city an even more awesome place. Jackie is setting the example on how to do that.
