Two men were arrested early Wednesday after they allegedly attempted to burglarized a house in Harpswell.

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, residents of a house on Cundy’s Harbor Road said they were awakened at about 3:20 a.m. by noises coming from their basement. When they went to check on the noises, they saw two men running from their basement.

One of the residents gave chase and caught one of the men, with help from an EMS provider who was at a nearby fire station. A patrolman from the Brunswick Police also helped the two restrain the man until sheriff’s deputies arrived and arrested Justin Robinson, 29, of Brunswick.

The other resident of the house recognized the other intruder as Connor Robinson, 19, of Bath. He turned himself in at the Brunswick Police Department later Wednesday.

The sheriff’s office said the two men are cousins.

Both have been charged with burglary, criminal mischief and theft and were still being held at the Cumberland County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon. Bail for Justin Robinson was set at $1,000 and no bail was set for Connor Robinson, jail officials said.
