I am writing to support Karen Kusiak to be our next state senator for District 16. We need her strong voice and proven leadership to advocate for all the people in our communities.
As a physician who had a solo general practice in rural Maine for 17 years, I know how critical the expansion of Medicaid that was approved by Maine voters is to the health of our state. Kusiak supports this Medicaid expansion, which will allow 70,000 of our fellow citizens to have health insurance that they would otherwise be unable to afford.
I know from personal experience that when people don’t have health insurance they are less likely to seek or continue medical treatment. For many conditions, this lack of preventive care eventually results in more expense.
This is why I am wholeheartedly supporting Karen Kusiak as our next senator in District 16.
