WATERVILLE — Jay Lauter struck out seven batters as the Maranacook baseball team beat Brewer 5-4 to win the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Class B championship game Saturday at Thomas College.

Aric Belanger had two hits, while Duncan Rogers smacked a double for the Black Bears.

Dan Garand earned the save for Maranacook and finished the game off in style. With runners on first and second in the seventh inning, Garand was able to field a comebacker behind his back, tossing the ball to first base to end the game.

Evan Andrews and Andrew Kiley each had two hits for the Witches.
